From automotive to wind power, HP-RTM proves extremely versatile

Advantages over traditional resin transfer molding

Due to longer curing times and slower injection, traditional RTM cannot produce parts as rapidly as HP-RTM. By injecting resin into a closed mold at high pressure our technology can create a high-quality lightweight complex part faster and more efficiently.

The HP-RTM process

The first step is unwinding the fiber material to cut fiber blanks. These blanks are stacked to create the layup that will become your final product. Once stacked, the piece is preformed to set the spatial orientation of the fibers. Then the piece is transferred for HP-RTM tooling where, after the mold is closed, a vacuum is applied and resin is injected. The vacuum serves to counterbalance injection pressure, minimize air entering and ensure the part forms properly. Pressure is maintained on the mold thanks to the clamping force provided by the press until the part is fully cured and can be removed from the mold.

The result is a complex part with excellent dimensional accuracy, high strength-to-weight ratio and incredible performance.
